Florida DCA Changes Name to Florida Division of Emergency Management

On 9/15/11 FSLSO received word that the Department of Community Affairs has had a legal name change from the Florida Department of Community Affairs to the Florida Division of Emergency Management within the Executive Office of the Governor effective October 1, 2011.

As a result, the EMPA surcharge will be made payable to the Florida Division of Emergency Management effective October 1, 2011. It will be noted on the 3rd quarter billing cycle as the DEM EMPA Surcharge invoice. Internal accounting systems may need to be updated with this name change when processing payments. Clarification on Diligent Effort for Professional Liability/E&O

FSLSO has received clarification from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation that Professional Liability is considered a subset of the Errors and Omissions commercial class coverage available for automatic export effective July 1, 2011 as a result of HB 1087. Please note that disclosure form, as mandated by HB 1087, will now be required for all Professional Liability policies. FSLSO is in the process of updating its website to reflect these changes.
