Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund Emergency Assessment

By Order of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office has been directed to collect, on behalf of the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF) an emergency assessment of 1% on all policies effective on or after January 1, 2007. All property and casualty premium will be subject to the assessment except for the following coverages: Medical Malpractice, Workers Compensation, and Accident and Health.

The emergency assessment is not considered premium and therefore not subject to the surplus lines premium receipt tax, to the FSLSO service fee or to any other statutorily imposed assessment(s) or surcharge.
