FSLSO has recently enhanced its website to include a new page that contains information relative to the 2008 Legislative Session.  This webpage includes a listing of insurance related bill categories, bill descriptions, and links to either the House and/or Senate version of each bill.  FSLSO will be updating this webpage as new information becomes available.

Reminder! Invoice Payments Are Due!

Insurer Update: Name Change
Effective April 9, 2008, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation officially recognized the acquisition of General Agents Insurance Company of America by Montpelier Re U.S. Holdings Ltd. and subsequent name change of General Agents Insurance Company of America to Montpelier U.S. Insurance Company. The FEIN of 75-1629914 and NAIC # 36838 remain the same.

Quarterly Affidavit Is Due on April 30th!

The first quarter of 2008 ended on March 31 which means your Quarterly Report Affidavit is due April 30.

Filing your Quarterly Report Affidavit is easier than ever as we have made it available electronically through SLIP. It’s simple, quick, and efficient! This electronic affidavit does not need to be notarized or mailed to us.

If you choose not to submit it electronically, you may continue to download a copy of the affidavit from the FSLSO website at: http://www.fslso.com/publications/forms/index.aspx

Last Chance to Sign Up for St. Pete CE Class!

FSLSO will be conducting its four-hour education course, "Do You Know the Code: Florida's Surplus Lines Law and Mitigation Options," in St. Pete on May 8th.

This four-hour course provides students with a refresher on Florida's Surplus Lines Law and 1-20 agent responsibilities. This course also includes one-hour on premium discounts for hurricane loss mitigation. The course concludes with a brief look at hot topics in the insurance market and an interactive game.

This class begin at 9:00 a.m. and last until 1:00 p.m.
