Dan served Florida's surplus lines community as a principle of Shelly, Middlebrooks and O'Leary of Jacksonville, Florida. His commitment to the industry led him to various leadership roles which included tenures on the FSLSO Board of Governors and the Florida Surplus Lines Association (FSLA) Board of Directors.
As one of the founding members of the FSLSO Board of Governors, Dan was an active Board Member since the Service Office's inception in 1997. He served as Board Chairman from 2005 through 2007.
Dan remains one of the Service Office's most influential members. Through his leadership as Chairman of FSLSO's 1998 Automation Committee, Dan helped pave the way for the Service Office's transformation into the first fully paperless office of its kind in the country.
"Words cannot describe the sadness that this loss brings to both us as an organization and members of Florida's surplus lines community," stated FSLSO Executive Director, Gary Pullen. "We pray for comfort for Dan's family, friends and colleagues, and to all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be greatly missed."
Information on services will be provided through FSLSO's website (www.fslso.com) as further details become available.
