Attention Surplus Lines Agents! Be advised the Department of Financial Services (DFS) will be assessing late fees on self-appointments which are not renewed timely. All changes are effective January 18, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Please see the bullet points below for additional information:
* If a surplus lines agent has an invalid address on file, they will not be able to renew their appointment.
* Surplus lines agents will be assessed a statutory late fee for each appointment submitted late, in addition to the usual appointment fee.
* Email notifications will be sent to the surplus lines agent's MyProfile account, created by DFS 90 days before renewal and again, on the first day of the renewal month.
