My internship experience at FSLSO was one that will remain useful for the rest of my career. From the very beginning I was met with welcoming faces and helpful mentors that allowed me to become more cultivated and knowledgeable about the Surplus Lines Industry. It wasn’t long before I became versed with the employees and indulged into the strong culture at FSLSO.
Throughout my time with the company, I was exposed to various aspects of Insurance through shadowing select employees and learning about the jobs they work on the everyday basis. This exposed me to topics such as compliance, production ledger review, and reconciliation. All of which opened my eyes to the regulatory world of Surplus Lines.
Another notable part of my time in the FSLSO was my participation and completion on Florida’s sixty-hour pre-licensing course that educated me on the history and laws that make the office run how it does today.
One of my favorite parts of the ten weeks I was there was sitting in on the meetings and being able to experience the professional field and all that is affected by it, right at the tips of my fingers.
This is an internship that teaches you valuable information but also lets you connect with the amazing people the industry has to offer. For any student that is unsure of where to start there is no better foundation than with the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office.
