My internship with Florida Surplus Line Service Office was the literal cherry on top of my undergraduate journey in insurance. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work alongside experienced insurance professionals who were kind enough to help me with anything- from a general insurance question to advice on what to expect after graduation. I had always heard great things from fellow members of Gamma Iota Sigma, and after speaking with Bryan and others at Insurance Days, I knew FSLSO was where I wanted to intern.
Over the ten weeks, I earned my Florida Surplus Lines Pre-Licensing Course certification, which provided a strong foundation not only for this internship but also for my job search after graduation. I didn’t expect how quickly I’d be able to apply what I was learning directly to my career. One of my favorite parts of the experience was getting to sit in on weekly meetings, where I got to witness the collaboration that went into building user-friendly software that better supports successful submission for the surplus lines market.
This experience not only deepened my understanding of the surplus lines market but has served as a starting point for my insurance career. It showed me the value of constant collaboration, adaptability, and innovation. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and can not wait to see what FSLSO has in store for future interns!"
-Thank you again for extending kindness and for all of your help! I genuinely can't be more grateful to you and all of the FSLSO staff for this opportunity.
