I’ve had an amazing summer interning at the Florida Surplus Lines Office. I was able to expand on skills I have already learned, as well as develop new skills and identify new topics to learn. I had the pleasure of learning from an IT team that had different areas of expertise. This opportunity has allowed me to experience different potential paths in my career and identify which most aligns with what I want to do.
During my internship, I was able to gain hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services and JavaScript. I also utilized a plethora of different platforms to complete tasks like security reports and smoke tests. FSLSO provided me the opportunity to complete my Amazon Web Services Cloud Practitioner certificate and a JavaScript course. Lastly, I was able to set the parameters for and launch an instance through Amazon Web Services. This opportunity has greatly impacted my desire to manage Amazon Web Services because of the resources and guidance I was given.
FSLSO has a community-like feel within the office that makes it easier for everyone to complete the impactful work that they do. The atmosphere was one of the best parts about interning here; everyone is approachable and willing to help regardless if you work closely with them or they are a part of a separate team. I am grateful for the opportunity to complete work in my field and work with such a positive, hardworking group of people.
