Before starting my internship with the FSLSO IGNITE program, I had never worked in an office, so I was definitely nervous on my first day. But the moment I walked in, those nerves started to fade. The environment at FSLSO is incredibly welcoming and supportive. Everyone I met was friendly, approachable, and genuinely passionate about their work. It was easy to feel like part of the team right away. I began the internship by completing the 60-hour surplus lines pre-licensing course, which gave me a strong foundation in the surplus lines market. It helped me understand the bigger picture and made my later assignments more meaningful.

As a Risk Management and Insurance student at the University of South Florida, I found this experience to be both professionally and personally valuable. I appreciated how hands-on the work was and how every day brought something new. Whether I was testing platforms, assisting with filings, or contributing to team projects, I was always learning and growing. This internship gave me a deeper understanding of how the E&S market functions and the important role FSLSO plays in the industry. I highly recommend the program to other RMI students and encourage anyone interested to connect with FSLSO staff at USF events. They are truly supportive and invested in helping students succeed.
