My internship at the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office has truly been an exceptional and unforgettable experience. Over the past ten weeks, my knowledge of the insurance industry and surplus lines has strengthened tremendously, and I’ve come to realize my interests and future career goals.

During my time at FSLSO, I completed the 60-Hour Surplus Lines Pre-Licensing Course and the Surplus Lines Information and Compliance Education Course, and was able to shadow professionals across different departments, including Communications, Premium Reconciliation, and Compliance Review. One of my most memorable experiences was getting to meet with Liz Smith, a Risk & Insurance Manager at TD SYNNEX, which was incredibly insightful and sparked my interest in a career as a risk manager.

I am very grateful for my time at FSLSO. Everyone has been so welcoming, kind, and supportive from day one and I couldn’t have asked for a better first internship experience. I highly recommend this internship for anyone interested in a career in surplus lines or the insurance industry.
