My internship at the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office was an amazing opportunity for me to learn more about the surplus lines insurance industry and gain real-world experience. As a Risk Management & Insurance student at the University of South Florida, working in the Agent & Insurer Services department gave me a better understanding of how FSLSO supports agents, insurers, and the Florida surplus lines market. Throughout the internship, I was able to work on a variety of projects that helped me develop new skills while seeing how different parts of the organization work together.

One of the biggest highlights of my internship was completing the 60-Hour Surplus Lines Pre-Licensing and the Slice+ course, continuing to build on what I know about surplus lines. Another memorable experience I had was sitting down with Jose Pagan and learning how Florida legislation affects the surplus lines insurance industry. It gave me a better understanding of the regulatory side of insurance and how changes in the law can impact the industry.

I am very grateful for my time at FSLSO. Everyone was very welcoming, supportive, and always willing to answer questions or share their experience. This internship helped to strengthen my knowledge of the insurance industry and grow professionally. I would recommend the IGNITE internship to any student interested in the insurance industry. Whether you're just starting to learn about insurance or already have experience, this internship provides a great foundation and a supportive environment to grow.
